Two Models of Communication

The transmission model came about with the idea that communication resembles transportation; moving a message from one source to a receiver by a medium. It's a linear model based on interpersonal context and that the message is accurate when it travels from one person to another. Harold Lasswell's explanation of mass communication is the foundation of the transmission model.

The cultural model shows that people exist in a world with a common view of reality. Culture is the medium between humans and reality of the world. Communication balances the possibilities of culture. If culture remained within a social language everyone would understand everything having nothing new in the world. Culture gives imagination, expansion, and transformation to our experiences in the world.
